Gangtok, Oct 18 Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang hailed outgoing Governor Om Prakash Mathur’s dignified leadership and commitment to constitutional values, saying the bond with the state he shared would endure beyond his tenure.
Mathur had assumed office as the 18th Governor of Sikkim on July 31, 2024. He has been appointed Governor of Keralam, while his successor Dushyant Gautam is scheduled to be sworn in on Monday.
In a social media post, Tamang said Mathur’s contribution to the state would be remembered with respect and gratitude.
“His dignified leadership, commitment to constitutional values, and valuable contributions have greatly supported the state’s progress and well-being. His tenure will be remembered with respect and gratitude,” the chief minister said.
The farewell message recalled Mathur’s affection for the people, his concern for the underprivileged and guidance during Sikkim’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
It described him as not merely the constitutional head of the state, but also a mentor and well-wisher whose bond with Sikkim would endure beyond his tenure.
Tamang also extended his best wishes to Mathur for his new assignment and welcomed Gautam, expressing hope that his tenure would contribute to the state’s development and progress.
Gautam was appointed Governor of Sikkim by President Droupadi Murmu on October 12 as part of a gubernatorial reshuffle.
