Una (HP), Oct 18 Police in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district have seized worth Rs 71.27 lakh belonging to two men accused in separate cases of drug peddling.
The assets include three cargo trucks, agricultural land, vehicles and funds held in bank accounts, Una SP Sachin Hiremath said on Sunday.
The first case dates back to June 2025 within the Mehatpur police station limits, where police seized 123 kg of poppy husk – ‘bhukki’ – from the vehicle and house of Kulwinder Gill in Charhatgarh, the SP said.
As part of the probe, police have now seized three cargo trucks and frozen funds in bank accounts, totalling Rs 52.06 lakh, the officer said.
In the second case, 25.30 kg of poppy husk was seized from two men in the Una Sadar police station area in June. The probe found the direct involvement of Balwinder Kumar, a resident of Santoshgarh, who was arrested.
According to police, assets totalling Rs 19.21 lakh, including 2,000 sq mt of agricultural land, a motorcycle, and funds in bank accounts, have been frozen in his name.
