Guna (MP), Oct 17 Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday called for a greater participation of people in the development of the country.

He also said the welfare schemes implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in Madhya Pradesh were reaching villages and helping rural communities, farmers, women as well as economically weaker sections become stronger and self-reliant.

The Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, was speaking in Semarkhedi village under the Chanderi assembly constituency, around 90 km from Guna, on the second day of his tour of Ashoknagar in his Guna parliamentary constituency.

During the ‘gram chaupal’ (village meeting), Scindia spoke to the local residents and beneficiaries of various central and state government schemes to understand their experiences and the changes these programmes had brought to their lives.

Scindia rode a decorated bullock cart during the event, and interacted with villagers, farmers and women about the benefits of government welfare schemes. He sought feedback from them on the implementation of the schemes and the benefits they had received.

The government programmes should reach every eligible beneficiary, including those at the grassroots, he said, underscoring the importance of public participation in the development process.
