Jaipur, Oct 15 Congress leader Tika Ram Jully on Thursday claimed that Rajasthan Urban Housing Development Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra’s son contesting panchayat polls as an Independent reflected growing discontent within the ruling BJP.
In a post on X, the leader of opposition questioned how people could trust the BJP when the son of one of its own ministers was not confident about winning elections on the party’s ticket.
Kharra’s son Durga Singh has filed his nomination as an Independent candidate for the election to the Shrimadhopur panchayat samiti, claiming that his supporters wanted him to do so.
Jully alleged that Durga Singh’s decision had exposed the BJP’s organisational weaknesses and growing differences between party workers and the local leadership.
He claimed that the development also raised questions about ticket distribution and neglect of grassroots workers in the party.
The Congress leader demanded that Kharra resign on moral grounds.
Jully also urged Rajasthan BJP president Madan Rathore to take the matter seriously and respond to concerns over ticket distribution and dissatisfaction among party workers.
He said the BJP leadership could not address these issues merely through statements.
