Hyderabad, Oct 14 Taking exception to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘vote chori’ allegations against the BJP, Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Thursday accused the Gandhi family of ‘naam chori’, alleging that they had falsely adopted the Gandhi surname.
Speaking to reporters after paying homage to former President APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary here, he also referred to American singer Mary Millben’s allegations that the Cockroach Janata Party was being “funded by donors” in the US and said the people of the country need to take note of it.
“No ‘vote chori’ (vote theft). Congress party did ‘naam chori’. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi have stolen Gandhi ji’s name. They are not Gandhis. They are ‘naam chors’ (name thief). Rahul Gandhi’s family are ‘naam chor’. They are fooling people by having Gandhi ji’s name,” he said.
“They are not real Gandhis. They are fake Gandhi. They are ‘naam chor’. The country should be careful of these ‘naam chor’,” Rao said.
On Mary Millben’s remarks, he said the allegations were not made by the BJP but a singer in America.
Noting that attempts are being made to weaken India and remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi from power, he said such efforts were made in the past as well.
“Similar attempt was made by occupying Shaheen Bagh in Delhi for 30 days over CAA,” he said, expressing confidence that people of the country would teach a lesson to forces trying weaken the country.
Paying tributes to Kalam, he said the late President was known as ‘missile man of India’.
However, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and P Chidambaram had described Kalam as a ‘bomb man’, Rao allegd.
Hitting out at the Congress government in Telangana, the BJP leader sought to know if the administration has any plan to address disruptions in power supply to farm sector and also urban areas.
There was no immediate response from Congress to Rao’s allegations.
