Nashik, Oct 14 A row erupted over the temporary shifting of photographs of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to another wall in Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company’s office in Nashik, which is undergoing renovation.
Officials said the photographs were removed for some time on Tuesday as renovation work is underway for measurement and other work, but they were placed on the wall again.
As the renovation work is ongoing in the MSEDCL office here, the photographs of the President and the Prime Minister were shifted to another wall in the office of the superintendent engineer, an official said on Wednesday.
MSEDCL officials rejected allegations that the photographs were removed amid a demand by the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS).
“Renovation work is ongoing in the Nashik Road office of Vidyut Bhavan at present. As the renovation and shifting work is being done in a phased manner, these photographs have been shifted along with other goods. The arrangement has changed in many ways.
“The photographs were removed for some time yesterday for measurement and other work, but they were placed on the wall again. The shifting work is still on. No one has come to us, and no memorandum has been given,” said superintendent engineer Anil Thorat when asked about reports regarding a purported demand by the MNVS.
