Kota (Rajasthan), Oct 14 Ahead of Panchayati Raj elections in Rajasthan, state Congress heavyweights Govind Singh Dotasra and Tikaram Jully on Wednesday mounted a fierce offensive against the ruling BJP, declaring that public resentment against economic distress and administrative overreach will trigger the downfall of the “double-engine” government.
Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Dotasra and Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Jully, accompanied by former minister Pramod Jain Bhaya, said the BJP’s downfall will pave the way for Congress return in the state by 2028 and at the Centre by 2029.
They said this while addressing party workers and a public gathering in Bhawani mandi in Jhalawar, home turf of former chief minister and national BJP’s deputy president Vasundhraraje.
They also condemned the administration for stifling democratic voices, specifically citing how senior party figures, including the Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, were blocked from holding peaceful demonstrations in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Dotasra asserted that growing citizen frustration with governmental high-handedness marks the fading days of the current BJP governments at Centre and in the state.
Outlining the party’s roadmap, he emphasised an organisational overhaul by urging local leadership to prioritise grassroot workers and fresh faces over entrenched family legacies, noting that true political revival requires empowering dedicated cadre whose efforts have long sustained the party on the ground.
Adding economic heft to the rally, Jully criticised the BJP for widespread governance failures, escalating inflation, and broken promises regarding essential public infrastructure. He further accused the government of dismantling key social safety nets like MGNREGA while delaying crucial welfare benefits, including pensions, scholarships, fertiliser subsidies, and anganwadi dues.
Jully also slammed the government over the murder of former BJP MLA Attar Singh Bhadana in Bharatpur, in the home district of CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, asking how a common man can feel safe when the government couldn’t protect its own.
