Aligarh, Oct 14 Four students were injured after the ceiling of a classroom collapsed during a lecture at the Government Girls Intermediate College in Atrauli here on Tuesday, officials said.
They were taken to the hospital for first aid. Three students were discharged after their condition stabilised, while the fourth is receiving further treatment, doctors said.
District Inspector of Schools Pooran Singh, who visited the spot, said a portion of the cement plaster fell off, while the supporting beam remained intact, averting a potentially bigger accident.
Singh said the school authorities had earlier sought funds for repairs to the classroom and the education department had sanctioned the amount. However, the funds had not been released due to delays, he said.
He assured that the necessary funds would be provided to the college soon.
