Jaipur, Oct 14 Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde on Wednesday said excellence should not be measured merely by material parameters but also by intellectual, ethical and practical integrity.
Addressing a World Standards Day function organised by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) here, Bagde said standards are essential for elevating the quality of products, services and ideas.
The governor urged the BIS to promote awareness about quality and standardisation while encouraging creativity, innovation and scientific thinking among the consumers, an official statement said.
Referring to India’s ancient traditions, Bagde said the pursuit of excellence has always been an integral part of Indian life.
Bagde stressed the need to spread awareness about quality standards, including ISI and ISO certifications, in both rural and urban areas.
“When we adhere to stringent standards, our products and services strengthen India’s reputation and credibility at the global level,” he said.
The governor also called for sustained efforts to improve the quality, innovation and reliability of Indian products.
Earlier, Bagde administered a pledge on standards and felicitated individuals for their outstanding contributions to standardisation.
