Guwahati, Oct 13 Around 40 corporate houses came together with senior Army officials and representatives of the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) on Tuesday in Guwahati to strengthen collaboration for resettlement and second-career options for ex-servicemen.
Participating in a ‘DGR and Corporate HR Conclave’, the unique qualities of former servicemen and the employment opportunities available for them in the corporate sector were highlighted, an official statement said.
The meet was organised by the DGR, through its Directorate of Resettlement Zone (East), with the objective of strengthening collaboration between the armed forces, DGR and the corporate sector for enhanced employment and resettlement opportunities for ex-servicemen.
The conclave brought together representatives from around 40 leading corporate houses and industry organisations, including ITC, Taj Group, CII, Aditya Birla, TVS and other prominent organisations, besides senior Army officers and representatives from DGR.
It provided a platform for interaction between the corporate sector and the resettlement ecosystem.
Presentations focused on the skills, leadership qualities, discipline, integrity and professional experience of ex-servicemen, and the opportunities available for their meaningful absorption in the corporate sector, the statement said.
Lt Gen Pranab Kumar Bharali (Retd) delivered the keynote address, followed by a detailed presentation by Brigadier Saumya Banerjee of the Directorate of Resettlement Zone (East).
He highlighted the significant contribution made by ex-servicemen to the nation and emphasised that their extensive experience in leadership, administration, logistics, security, operations and team management makes them a valuable human resource for corporate organisations.
The conclave also provided an opportunity to sensitise corporate HR leaders about the various resettlement initiatives, employment facilitation measures, skill development and reorientation programmes undertaken by DGR for the former servicemen.
The interaction reaffirmed the importance of public-private partnership in the resettlement of ex-servicemen and in creating sustainable second-career opportunities for them after their service in the armed forces, the statement added.
