Ranchi, Oct 13 Newly appointed Odisha Governor Braj Mohan Ram on Tuesday said he would work for the poor, address fundamental issues, and strive to meet people’s essential needs.
Ram, a three-time BJP MP from Jharkhand, said he would ensure that the coastal state prospers and people face no difficulties.
“The party has recognised a worker like me. I am grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their blessings,” Ram told PTI outside Hanuman Temple in Ranchi’s Morabadi where he offered prayers along with his family.
“I will work for the poor and ensure justice for those otherwise denied it. I will make efforts to address fundamental issues and strive to meet people’s essential needs, ensuring they face no difficulties. I will be working for the prosperity of the state,” Ram said.
President Droupadi Murmu on Monday appointed Braj Mohan Ram, a native of Jharkhand’s Palamu district, as the new governor of Odisha. Ram will succeed Hari Babu Kambhampati, who assumed charge on January 3, 2025.
Ram represented Palamu Lok Sabha constituency in undivided Bihar thrice in 1996, 1998 and 1999. He also served as a member of the Bihar Assembly from 1991 to 1995.
“I have worked hard consistently and remained an active and honest member of the organisation. Nowadays, people often switch to another party if they are denied a ticket. I stayed with the party and worked to ensure the victory of BJP candidates,” added Ram, who is in-charge of the BJP’s Scheduled Caste Morcha in Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders, led by the party’s state unit chief Aditya Sahu, visited Ram’s Morabadi residence and congratulated him on being appointed as the Odisha governor.
“I am confident that the experience he gained from his long public life will prove instrumental in establishing new benchmarks for Odisha’s development, good governance, and public welfare,” Sahu later said in a statement.
