New Delhi, Oct 13 Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday said he was ready to provide documents for any inquiry after the JD(S) alleged that a sting operation had targeted ministers and demanded a CBI probe.
On Monday, JD(S) state president and Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy had asked why the Karnataka government had not ordered an investigation into the alleged sting operation.
Speaking to reporters in the national capital, Shivakumar said, “Very happy. They are doing a good job, bringing to the notice of the state an important issue. I will respond. I will get all the documents and give them. They have said they will probe; let them do it.”
The row escalated on Tuesday as Kumaraswamy demanded a CBI probe into the alleged sting operation, claiming that it had also targeted former chief minister Siddaramaiah and was part of a larger attempt to target political opponents.
Siddaramaiah has approached a court seeking an injunction on what he described as “false publicity” against him on social media.
Kumaraswamy claimed that Siddaramaiah was a victim of the operation and it might have led him to give up the CM post.
On Monday, the JD(S) leader had alleged that Shivakumar held a lengthy meeting with a person purportedly linked to sting operations at a five-star hotel in Bengaluru, and demanded a probe into the alleged targeting of some Cabinet ministers.
“Everything will come out if there is an investigation. How can you keep the matter under wraps and say that time will answer?” he asked, alleging that the CM was behind the purported sting operations.
Shivakumar was in the national capital to take part in the INDIA bloc’s protest march against SIR. He returned to Bengaluru after completing his engagements.
