Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 13 BJP Keralam president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday lashed out at Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Pinarayi Vijayan, saying if he had “a shred of shame” he should resign from his position.
Chandrasekhar, in an X post, said that Vijayan, in 2016, had asked the then CM Oommen Chandy to resign over corruption allegations against him if he had even a shred of shame.
“He even forced KM Mani to step down as minister over the bar bribery scam. Ten years later, Pinarayi is facing a massive corruption investigation connected to his daughter’s company, Exalogic.”
“The High Court has ordered an FIR against him after the Congress/IUML government refused to file one despite the evidence. It is time for him to walk his own talk. Where is Pinarayi’s sense of shame?” he asked.
He further said that a political leader with even a shred of shame, when confronted with even small charges of corruption, must resign.
“@pinarayivijayan faces far more than small charges,” he added.
The BJP MLA from Nemom assembly constituency said the people of Keralam had given Vijayan and the CPI(M) a chance as they were “fed up with Congress corruption and incompetence”.
“He promised “Ellam Sheriyakum” – that everything would be alright. But nothing became better, because Congress and CPI(M) are the same. Randalla, Onnanu!
“Apart from the enrichment of himself and his family, nothing went right for Keralam. Its economy was ruined, drowning in a sea of debt,” Chandrasekhar alleged.
He said the BJP is an opposition party in the Keralam Assembly, with a fundamental duty to hold the Congress/Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) government accountable.
“We cannot function under a completely compromised Leader of the Opposition, who’s under Congress’ control just to protect himself. Pinarayi Vijayan will not and cannot do that duty. He can no longer remain the LoP,” the BJP state chief claimed.
