Bareilly (UP), Oct 13 Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said Uttar Pradesh became a safe state and changed the perception held by the country and the world that it won’t improve.
Adityanath made the remarks at a programme organised in Bareilly to honour the state’s 68,000 Gram Praharis (village watchmen).
“The fact that Uttar Pradesh has become safe has changed the perception of the state held by the country and the world. Earlier, people used to think that UP will not improve,” he said at the programme.
“A handful of people would do wrong, yet the 25 crore people of UP had to bear the consequences. The wrongdoings of just a few people created an identity crisis for the youth, the daughters, the traders, and for every single citizen of UP,” he said.
Whenever a person from UP travelled outside the state, this identity crisis followed and they would be forced to hide their identity, the CM said.
“They struggled to find rooms in hotels or guesthouses, and could not get seats on buses or trains. If a dispute arises by any chance, and people find out that he is from UP, they immediately throw him out.
“After coming to power in 2017, we used to wonder how this perception would change. Thank God that today, under the guidance and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ‘double-engine’ government, we have succeeded in transforming the perception of UP in the country and the world,” Adityanath said.
