Agartala, Oct 13 Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday said the state cabinet approved a proposal to name eight locations across the state as Seva Jyoti Chowks to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long journey of public service and promote the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Boards promoting government programmes will be erected at those Chowks, or road crossings, to make them serve as landmarks, the chief minister said in a press conference after the cabinet meeting.

Saha said the cabinet also passed a resolution congratulating Modi on completing 25 years of uninterrupted service as head of government from October 7, 2001 to October 7, 2026.

He said that the state will name eight places in eight districts as Seva Jyoti Chowks, which will serve as public landmarks promoting social responsibility, cleanliness drives, voluntary service and tree plantation.

Besides, those Chowks will encourage community participation and awareness of welfare schemes, ensuring that benefits of government programmes reach all beneficiaries and strengthen collective responsibility for social and national development.

The CM said, “The resolution congratulating the Prime Minister recognised his contributions to nation-building, good governance, national security, public welfare and strengthening India’s global standing.”

Saha stated that major achievements of Modi include launching of One Rank One Pension, creation of the Chief of Defence Staff, labour reforms, replacement of colonial-era criminal laws and abrogation of Article 370.

He also cited the 2016 surgical strikes, the 2019 Balakot air strikes and Operation Sindoor in May last year.

The chief minister said Tripura had benefited from the Centre’s development initiatives in road and railway connectivity, infrastructure, urban development and healthcare.

He also referred to railway electrification, station redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and ongoing road infrastructure projects.
