New Delhi, Oct 12 Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar met Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday and discussed issues of state sugarcane growers.
Shivakumar visited Joshi late at night as he could not attend the meeting convened by Joshi earlier during the day to discuss the issues of and protest by sugarcane growers in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Shivakumar discussed all “issues faced by the state sugarcane growers, fixing of minimum selling price of sugar, and other matters,” according to a statement from his office.
Joshi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a nearly three-hour meeting with farmer leaders from these two states in the national capital.
Later, they decided to set up a committee within a week to resolve the grievances of sugarcane growers.
