Amaravati, Oct 12 The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday said it had resolved 244 land disputes involving over 41,000 acres, benefiting more than 1.25 lakh families.
It also said around 16 lakh acres had been removed from the prohibited properties list as part of revenue reforms aimed at safeguarding land rights and improving transparency.
The reforms under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s government include issuing Pattadar passbooks bearing the official State Emblem, securing land records through blockchain technology and granting permanent property rights to economically weaker families.
“The government has resolved 244 major land disputes involving over 41,000 acres, benefiting more than 1.25 lakh families, while removing around 16 lakh acres from the prohibited properties list,” a press release said.
The government has reduced the extent of land restricted from registration from 49 lakh acres to 33 lakh acres across 8,177 resurvey villages. It has initiated steps to grant freehold rights over 10.7 lakh acres of assigned land.
The land involved in the 244 resolved disputes is estimated to be worth more than Rs 5,000 crore, the release said. The disputes were resolved across several districts, including Tirupati, Nandyal, Guntur, Kuppam and Nellore.
At a recent ‘Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku’ programme in Prakasam district, issues involving 3,304 acres were addressed, benefiting 7,981 families.
The government has introduced Pattadar passbooks bearing the official State Emblem, replacing the earlier practice of printing political leaders’ photographs on land documents.
It aims to complete the distribution of 40.5 lakh passbooks across 9,027 resurvey villages by October 2026. Another 51.9 lakh passbooks are targeted for distribution across 7,789 villages by March 2027.
The passbooks are being issued after electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification of landowners to minimise errors and improve the reliability of ownership records.
As part of its technology-driven initiatives, the Revenue Department has launched a blockchain-based land-record security pilot covering more than 1.4 lakh land parcels across seven mandals. The system assigns permanent digital identities to land parcels to improve transparency and prevent unauthorised alterations to records.
The department has also implemented 100 per cent automatic mutation for around nine lakh eligible property transactions involving sale, gift and partition deeds, reducing the need for citizens to visit revenue offices. The rejection rate for mutation applications has reportedly fallen from 20 per cent to below two per cent.
Digitisation of historical land records, simplified inheritance registrations and WhatsApp-based revenue services are among the other measures being implemented to improve accessibility and accountability, the release said.
The government has launched the ‘Pedalaku Pattabhishekam’ programme to grant permanent property rights to families that have lived for decades on government land. Nearly 60,000 families in Visakhapatnam, Mangalagiri, Vijayawada and Nellore have received permanent house-site ownership documents for properties with an estimated combined value of Rs 52,000 crore.
The government has removed political images from granite boundary stones installed between 2019 and 2024 under the previous YSRCP government.
The release alleged that more than Rs 650 crore in public funds had been spent on engraving former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s image on around 77 lakh boundary stones.
The repeal of the Land Titling Act was among the initial measures taken by the NDA coalition government after it assumed office in June 2024, the release said.
Naidu has directed officials to expedite the resolution of land disputes, strengthen digital land governance and improve citizen-friendly revenue services, according to the release.
The ‘Mee Bhoomi–Mee Hakku’ (Your Land, Your Right) initiative aims to strengthen land ownership security for farmers and other property owners while providing permanent property rights to economically weaker families across Andhra Pradesh.
