New Delhi, Oct 8: The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear on Friday a plea filed by the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) seeking permission to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The plea was mentioned for urgent listing on Thursday before a bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Nitin Wasudeo Sambre and Justice Sanjay Sharma.

The court said the matter would be listed for hearing on Friday. It also stated that the petitioner could mention the matter again if the plea was not listed as scheduled.

The Indian Youth Congress approached the High Court challenging a Delhi Police order denying permission to hold the protest at Jantar Mantar.

The organisation is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

The upcoming hearing will consider the IYC’s plea challenging the police decision to deny permission for the protest.
