Hardoi (UP), Sep 26 A woman, her son and son-in-law were killed after a speeding car collided head-on with their motorcycle amid rain in Hardoi district on Saturday, police said.
The accident occurred near Samuda village under the Kotwali police station limits, they said.
The deceased were identified as Guddi Devi (49), her son Sohail (25) and son-in-law Ramesh (32), all residents of Bhuvan Purwa village under the Lonar police station limits.
According to police, Ramesh and Sohail had returned from Noida to attend the delivery of Kamini, Ramesh’s wife and Guddi Devi’s eldest daughter, who was admitted to the District Women’s Hospital on Friday. She was scheduled to undergo an operation on Saturday morning.
On Saturday, Sohail was taking his mother and brother-in-law to the hospital on a motorcycle when a speeding car rammed into their vehicle near Samuda village, leaving all three critically injured.
Police reached the spot and rushed them to the medical college in an ambulance, where doctors declared them dead around 12.45 pm, they said.
Kotwali SHO Sanjay Tyagi said the car had been impounded, but its driver fled the scene. A search is underway to trace the driver, and further legal action is being taken, he added.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, police said.
