Kozhikode (Keralam), Sep 26 AICC general secretary K C Venugopal on Saturday said he was honoured to receive the CK Govindan Nair Award and recalled the contributions of the veteran Gandhian and Nehruvian leader.
In a post on ‘X’, Venugopal said he received the award from Tushar Gandhi in Kozhikode.
He described Tushar Gandhi as a “bold voice against the fascist forces of today” and said he was taking forward Mahatma Gandhi’s ideological legacy.
Venugopal said Nair was a staunch Gandhian and Nehruvian leader who upheld the Congress flag in Keralam and remained committed to the values of the freedom movement.
He said Nair had made sacrifices in the struggle against the British and worked for farmers and workers in the state.
“He was among the pantheon of towering leaders who inspired me in my journey in public life,” Venugopal said.
Describing the award as a moment of “deep gratitude”, Venugopal reiterated his lifelong commitment to the Congress and its mission.
