Kozhikode (Keralam), Sep 26 Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday visited the home of Asian Games silver medallist Vidarsa Vinod and congratulated her on the achievement.
Vinod is a native of Thiruvambady here, which falls under Vadra’s Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.
Vadra, who was on her way to Wayanad from Malappuram, was received by Vidarsa’s parents, K D Vinod and Anitha, according to an official statement.
Vadra said Vidarsa had made Wayanad and India proud and wished her greater achievements in the future. She also told her parents that the young sports star should set her sights on the Olympics.
Agriculture Minister T Siddique accompanied Vadra during the visit.
Vidarsa, along with Tilottama Sen and Ashi Chouksey, won the silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event at the Asian Games on Saturday.
The Indian trio aggregated 1763 points to finish second, while China won the gold with a Games-record 1773 points and Kazakhstan took bronze with 1754.
