Kozhikode (Keralam), Sep 26 Congress leader and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday met representatives of off-road vehicle clubs, off-road riders, kayaking clubs, jeep drivers and paragliding operators in Kakkadampoyil here to explore the potential of adventure tourism in the region.
The representatives, who met Vadra, sought special consideration from the government to promote adventure tourism and said there were several legal hurdles in conducting mud races and other adventure competitions.
They said Kakkadampoyil, located on the borders of Kozhikode and Malappuram districts, had considerable potential for kayaking, but the availability of equipment remained a challenge.
They also sought restoration of trekking routes that had been used earlier but were subsequently closed following the withdrawal of permission by the Forest Department, according to party sources.
Revenue Minister A P Anil Kumar, C K Kasim MLA and others accompanied Vadra.
