New Delhi, Sep 26 A DDCA director has urged the association’s president Rohan Jaitley to bar office-bearers, including the honorary secretary and joint secretary, from attending team selection meetings, alleging that their presence could influence selectors and undermine the independence of the selection process.
In a letter addressed to the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association president, director Shyam Sharma said the selection committee was an independent body and that the presence of office-bearers in its meetings could hamper “fair and transparent selection”.
Sharma alleged that the honorary secretary and joint secretary were “again” insisting on attending selection meetings and sought directions that no office-bearer be allowed to sit in such meetings.
“If their intention is not to select under-performers or to influence the selection, then there is no reason for them to attend the meeting,” Sharma said in the letter.
He said fair selection of deserving players was essential for the team to perform well and added that “I, Me, My & Mine have damaged Delhi Cricket a lot”.
Sharma also warned that if no action was taken, he would file a formal complaint before the BCCI and the DDCA Ombudsman.
