New Delhi, Sep 26 A bonsai exhibition featuring around 100 plants, including several specimens nurtured for decades, was inaugurated at Lodhi Garden on Saturday in collaboration with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
According to the statement, NDMC Chairman Manoj Kumar Dwivedi inaugurated the exhibition at the National Bonsai Park in the presence of Japan Foundation Director Koji Sato, Head of Public and Cultural Affairs Kakashi Kobayashi, senior NDMC officials, members of the Indian Bonsai Association and enthusiasts.
The exhibition showcases flowering, fruiting and other varieties of bonsai, with some specimens aged between 20 and 50 years.
The collection highlights the patience and care involved in cultivating bonsai as both a horticultural practice and an art form, officials said.
According to the statement, the exhibition will remain open to the public for free till October 4 from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm.
It is aimed at promoting interest in bonsai, gardening and horticulture among citizens, nature lovers and families, the statement read.
