New Delhi, Sep 26 Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday congratulated the Indian men’s and women’s kabaddi teams after they clinched gold medals at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
“Heartiest congratulations to our Men’s Kabaddi Team on clinching Gold at the #AsianGames2026 after a thrilling final against Iran. Your grit, teamwork and fighting spirit have made every Indian proud. Best wishes to our champions for many more successes ahead,” Kharge said in a post on X.
In another post, he congratulated the women’s team on its victory.
“Golden glory for India! Super proud of Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team on winning gold at the #AsianGames2026. Many congratulations for this remarkable victory!” he said.
“A phenomenal display of strength, skill and teamwork by our champions. The entire nation stands proud! Wishing the team many more triumphs ahead,” Kharge added.
India’s dominance in the Asian Games kabaddi competition remained intact as both the men’s and women’s teams defeated familiar foes Iran in their respective finals to successfully defend their gold medals here on Saturday.
The men’s team prevailed 40-34, while the women won 37-34.
It was the ninth Asian Games gold for the men’s team and the fourth for the women’s side.
