Nagercoil (Tamil Nadu), Sep 26 A woman content creator’s decision to show off her family’s wealth online took a disastrous turn after burglars broke into her home and looted about 118 sovereigns of gold jewellry, police said on Saturday.
The heist followed videos posted by the YouTuber, including one where she showered her child with Rs 500 currency notes and boasted about buying gold every month.
Police suspect that the burglars closely monitored her channel and social media activity to plan the execution.
The victim, identified as Madhumitha, lives in Nagercoil and runs a YouTube channel where she regularly uploads reels and lifestyle videos.
Recently, she posted several videos flaunting her family’s cash and jewelry.
In one viral clip, she dumps stacks of Rs 500 notes over her young child, boasts her affluent lifestyle and explicitly states that she buys gold jewelry every month.
Upon returning home after a small trip to Tirunelveli, Madhumitha and her family discovered that the house had been broken open and jewelry weighing about 118 sovereigns kept in the bureau was missing.
Based on a complaint, the police have launched a full-scale investigation.
Fingerprint experts and forensic teams were deployed to gather evidence.
Authorities are also examining CCTV footage from the surrounding neighbourhood and analyzing social media trail data to trace the culprits.
Following the theft, Madhumitha’s previous social media videos about her purchasing gold on a monthly basis have gone viral once again.
