Bhind (MP), Sep 25 Three boys in the 16-17 age group are feared drowned while immersing a Ganesh idol in Sindh river in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district on Friday, a police official said.
The incident took place around 4:30pm near Kanawar village under Umri police station limits, 20 kilometres away from the district headquarters, Superintendent of Police Suraj Verma told reporters.
He identified the three boys as Krishna Bhadauria, Abhijit Bhadauria and Madan Bhadauria.
“They entered the river to immerse an idol and went missing. Police immediately reached the spot and a rescue team was called. A search operation was launched amid rain, but strong currents in the river have made the operation difficult,” he said.
A large number of villagers and relatives have gathered along the riverbank after getting to know about the incident.
