Jamshedpur, Sep 23 Security forces seized two rifles and over 200 rounds of ammunition kept hidden by CPI (Maoists) in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district on Wednesday, a police officer said.
The East Singhbhum district police, jointly with CoBra, STF and Jharkhand Jaguar, launched a massive search operation in MGM and Chakulia police station limits of the district between 5 am and 4 pm, Senior Superintendent of Police Ehtesham Waquarib said at a press conference here.
The operation led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Patamda) Dayanand Kumar was launched on the basis of the input given by arrested Maoists Mangal Mahato and Malti Murmu, the SSP said.
In the course of the operation, the security personnel recovered one INSAS rifle, 85 rounds of ammunition, three magazines, among other items from remote Kudlung forest under MGM police station.
The security personnel also recovered one AKM rifle, 147 live cartridges and two magazines from Jobhi forest under Chakulia police station limit of Ghatsila Sub-division, the SSP said, adding that the search operation was still underway.
