New Delhi, Sep 23 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday will interact with participants of ‘Seva Yatra’, an ongoing motorcycle rally travelling from Vadnagar to Varanasi that passes through towns, districts, and villages to take the spirit of service directly to the grassroots.
The rally is bringing together several dimensions of public engagement including ‘seva’ (service), ‘sampark’ (connect), youth participation, social welfare, cultural connect and community mobilisation and carrying them from one grassroots location to another.
The prime minister on Thursday morning will interact with the participants of the ‘yatra’ (bike rally), which are travelling in 10 groups, sources said.
Two bike rallies were flagged off — one from PM Modi’s birthplace, Vadnagar (Gujarat), to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi and another from Varanasi to Vadnagar on September 17, Modi’s 76th birthday, and they will end on October 7.
The bike rallies are being carried out marking Modi’s 25 years of public service.
The participants of the two ‘yatras’ (bike rallies) are not only simply passing through communities but they are meeting people and rendering ‘seva’ in activities that respond to local needs, the sources said.
Interacting with government schemes beneficiaries, youths and women to understand the changes brought by welfare and empowerment schemes are one of the key objectives of the rallies.
The participants have set out on a journey that is much more than a motorcycle rallies, they said.
The flag-off event in Vadnagar was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde and Union minister Anupriya Patel, among others.
The Varanasi event was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Chirag Paswan, besides other leaders.
Modi had served as the chief minister of Gujarat from October 7, 2001 to May 22, 2014. He became prime minister of India on May 26, 2014 and since then he has been in office after winning three Lok Sabha elections consecutively.
