Gurugram, Sep 26 Gurugram Police have directed pubs, bars and restaurants to strictly adhere to operating hours prescribed by the Excise Department, warning of prompt action against establishments violating the norms.
Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj issued the directions to all Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) through video conferencing and written communication, an official statement said.
The establishments have been directed to prominently display their authorised operating hours at the entrance and ensure that operations cease at the prescribed closing time.
Kabiraj has also directed DCPs, ACPs and SHOs to conduct random inspections within their respective jurisdictions to verify compliance with the prescribed timings, the statement said.
The concerned DCPs and ACPs will be personally responsible for ensuring compliance, it added.
The police commissioner warned that violations would be dealt with promptly and any laxity in enforcing the directions would be viewed seriously.
He also directed officers to ensure that the orders were implemented on the ground and not confined to paperwork.
Legal and departmental action would be initiated against officers found negligent in complying with the directions, as per rules, the statement said.
“Strict compliance with the authorised/permitted operating timings prescribed by the Excise Department for pubs, bars and restaurants shall be ensured. No establishment shall be allowed to operate beyond the prescribed time,” Kabiraj said.
