Prayagraj, Sep 25 Senior Advocate C P Upadhyay was on Friday elected as president of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association and Advocate Santosh Kumar Mishra as the secretary.
Upadhyay defeated his nearest rival, Senior Advocate P C Srivastava, by a margin of 74 votes, while Mishra defeated Advocate Rai Sahab Yadav by a margin of 283 votes.
According to the Chief Returning Officer, Senior Advocate SFA Naqvi, the polling took place on September 17, and the results were declared on Friday after four days of counting.
Returning Officer Vashishtha Tiwari said counting for the remaining posts will commence on Saturday.
In an unfortunate turn of events, the former vice-president of the High Court Bar Association, Advocate Rahul Pandey, suffered a severe heart attack when Upadhyay’s victory procession arrived near Hanuman temple for Darshan.
Pandey was rushed to SRN Medical College, where he was declared dead.
