Lucknow, Sep 25 Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday alleged that the BJP government has been engaging in false propaganda regarding investment, while no actual investment has materialised on the ground.
Yadav’s remarks assume significance in the backdrop of Union Home Amit Shah’s statement that in 2013, the then state government had organised an investors’ summit in Delhi because officials in Lucknow had refused to host it, citing law and order concerns.
Earlier, Shah inaugurated the ‘International Trade Show’ in Noida in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and levelled serious allegations against the SP, recalling how, in 2013, an investment conference had to be held in Delhi instead of the state capital due to law and order issues.
“At that time, when there was a controversy in the media, the Uttar Pradesh officials without hesitation said that the law and order situation in Lucknow was such that no investor was ready to come there, and therefore we had come to Delhi,” he said and added that now the situation has changed drastically under the BJP.
“Today, look at the situation. Uttar Pradesh is becoming a fear-free investment centre and an engine of the country’s development,” Shah said.
The Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, was in power in Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 2017.
In a statement issued here on Friday, SP chief Yadav alleged that the BJP government has ruined Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) units and investors have not made any actual expenditure.
He accused the government of promoting its close associates, and claimed that the BJP government makes false claims about mobile manufacturing; in reality, mobile phones are not being manufactured here – they are merely being assembled.
Yadav said that the 2027 assembly election is a battle to “save democracy and the Constitution”, representing a final opportunity for the public.
He alleged that the BJP is “dismantling” democracy and has “captured” constitutional institutions, acting against the Constitution.
Addressing party workers from various districts at the SP state headquarters, Yadav said that inflation and unemployment are at their peak, and all “records of corruption” have been broken in Uttar Pradesh.
The former chief minister claimed that the law and order situation in UP has collapsed, and incidents of crime against women are on the rise.
Yadav also alleged that the BJP government has “humiliated and harassed” the PDA (Backward, Dalit, and Minority) over the past ten years, snatched away their rights, and filed false cases against them.
