Noida, Sep 25 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday held a round-table meeting with representatives of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show’s partner countries and invited them to explore investment opportunities in sectors, including mobile manufacturing, defence, and medical devices.
Representatives of Singapore, Vietnam, Russia, Belarus, Japan and Austria participated in the discussions on investment and business opportunities in the state, according to a Uttar Pradesh government statement.
“Uttar Pradesh, besides being India’s most populous state, has a large market, a young workforce, fertile land and adequate water resources, offering considerable scope for businesses from partner countries,” Adityanath said, according to the statement.
During his interaction with the Vietnamese delegation, the CM invited companies from the country to invest in the Yamuna Expressway Authority area and said the state’s upcoming Noida airport would further strengthen connectivity.
He also proposed direct air services from Lucknow, Varanasi and Noida to Hanoi and other major Vietnamese cities, saying this would promote trade and tourism between the two countries, the statement said.
In his meeting with the Russian delegation, Adityanath invited Russian defence companies to set up units in Kanpur, pointing to the BrahMos manufacturing facility in Lucknow and production of AK-203 rifles in Uttar Pradesh.
He also highlighted opportunities in pharmaceuticals and medical devices, including the medical device park near Noida airport and the proposed pharma and bulk drug parks in Bundelkhand and Lalitpur, respectively.
The chief minister also invited Belarusian companies specialising in advanced and heavy machinery, particularly tractor manufacturers, to establish assembly units in Uttar Pradesh.
He suggested linking Belarusian wood technology with the wood-processing clusters of Saharanpur and Bijnor under the state’s One District One Product (ODOP) programme, the statement said.
Adityanath also held discussions with Japanese Ambassador Ono Keichi and JETRO India Chief Director General Daisaku Yukita on strengthening economic, cultural and investment ties between Uttar Pradesh and Japan. The two sides also discussed deepening ties between Sarnath and Japan’s Nara Prefecture based on their shared Buddhist heritage.
With the Singapore delegation, led by High Commissioner Simon Wong Wie Kuen, the chief minister discussed investment and economic cooperation, including progress on the proposed Singapore City project.
The Singapore government said it is interested in taking the project forward and strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
After the meeting, Adityanath joined representatives of partner countries for a group photograph. The government said participation by representatives from 25 countries at the trade show was an important step towards expanding Uttar Pradesh’s global trade and industrial outreach.
