Maharajganj (UP), Sep 25 Two men were sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here on Friday for the 2017 killing of a woman during a land dispute, officials said.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Sanjay Mishra sentenced Pintu alias Vinod, and Manoj Singh, both residents of Panayara police station area, to life imprisonment, said Assistant District Government Counsel Ajit Kumar Singh.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them.
According to the prosecution, Saraswati Maurya was shot dead by the two accused during a dispute over land. The prosecution alleged that the accused opened fire at her with a country-made pistol, killing her on the spot.
The accused had also allegedly threatened members of the complainant’s family, the officials said.
A case was registered at Panayara police station on July 2, 2017, under Sections 302 (murder), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
