Thane, Sep 26 Two persons have been arrested for alleged possession of mephedrone worth Rs 11.6 lakh in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police said on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Ambernath police intercepted the accused, Fakruddin Nizamuddin Sheikh (20) and Asif Mohammad Qasim Sheikh (26), on Tuesday night, an official said.
The duo was armed with a chopper and an iron rod, and after a search, the police team also recovered 58 gm of mephedrone worth Rs 11.6 lakh from them, he said.
A case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Arms Act, and the Maharashtra Police Act, senior inspector Shabbir Sayyed of Ambernath police station said.
