Pune, Sep 23 Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff on Wednesday offered prayers at the historic Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati Mandal in Pune.
The actor, who participated in the aarti, appreciated the efforts of Punit Balan, a trustee at the mandal, to preserve the heritage ‘wada’ or mansion housing the Bhausaheb Rangari Bhavan Museum.
When asked if he has any message for society, the ‘Rangeela’ actor said, “If someone slips on a banana peel and falls, give him a hand and help him get up. Don’t laugh at him. Be friends with the soil because ultimately we all have to return to it. So don’t become too clever.”
The actor was impressed by the old mansion’s construction and locking system.
“The locking system of the wada is so impressive. How they managed to have such a central locking system at that time is something one should see,” he said.
Speaking about the experience of offering prayers and attending the aarti, Shroff said one should remain focused on the moment.
“When you listen to the aarti, just listen to the aarti. Don’t think about anything else. Whatever work you are doing, focus on that,” he said.
He recalled his childhood memories of celebrating Ganeshotsav in Mumbai, particularly in Girgaon and Walkeshwar, saying he continues to enjoy the festive spirit and seek blessings of Lord Ganapati.
