Jammu, Sep 25 Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested an accused allegedly involved in a recent firing incident on the national highway in Samba district, officials said.
Acting on specific information about the movement of the accused, police teams launched a coordinated operation during patrolling in the jurisdiction of police station Vijaypur and arrested Harish alias Herry, a resident of Ranjari in Samba district, they said.
The accused was wanted in connection with the firing incident that took place on the highway at Tarore under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bari Brahmana, officials said.
In the firing, Vishal Singh alias Vishu, son of Narinder Singh, a resident of Rahya in the Vijaypur area of Samba district, was injured and hospitalised, they said.
A case has been registered at Bari Brahmana police station under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3/27 of the Arms Act.
The arrest marks a significant development in the investigation into the highway firing incident, police said.
