Jaipur, Sep 25 Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday visited SMS Hospital here to enquire about the condition of six firefighters who were injured after a chemical container exploded while they were battling a blaze at a factory in Jodhpur.
Fourteen fire brigade personnel were injured in the fire at the chemical factory in Jodhpur on Wednesday evening. The firefighters suffered burn injuries when a chemical container suddenly exploded as they were trying to control the blaze.
Six of the injured personnel were shifted from Jodhpur’s Mahatma Gandhi Hospital to SMS Hospital in Jaipur on Thursday for further treatment.
Gehlot met the injured firefighters undergoing treatment at SMS Hospital and spoke to doctors about their condition. He also spoke to the Jodhpur chief fire officer to get details about the incident.
The former chief minister said the firefighters displayed immense courage and saved the lives of more than a dozen people without caring for their own safety.
“These personnel displayed indomitable courage and saved the lives of more than a dozen people without caring for their own lives, but were injured when chemical containers suddenly exploded,” Gehlot said.
He wished the injured firefighters a speedy recovery.
