Sonbhadra (UP), Sep 25 A Divisional Logging Manager of the Forest Corporation allegedly committed suicide under suspicious circumstances while staying at a private company’s guest house in Sonbhadra district, a police official said on Friday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Verma said that Satyapal Prasad (40), who was posted as the DLM for Mirzapur and held charge of both Mirzapur and Sonbhadra districts, was staying at the Hindalco guest house under the Pipri police station limits.
Late on Thursday night, police received information that Prasad had died by hanging himself from a ceiling fan using a ‘gamchha’ (traditional cotton towel).
The family members of the deceased have arrived after being informed, SP Verma said.
A post-mortem has been conducted, and the reasons for the officer’s suicide are being investigated, he said.
