Gurugram, Sep 22 (PTI) Haryana police has booked a former village head in Nuh district, who, after being released on bail, allegedly led a procession and threatened to kill the incumbent sarpanch, police said on Tuesday.
The videos of the procession also went viral on social media. The police have booked the former sarpanch and over 100 people participating in the procession, including five named individuals, for brandishing illegal weapons and creating panic by setting off fireworks, they said.
According to the complaint filed by Zubair, the current Sarpanch of the Naheda Gram Panchayat, the former sarpanch, Nasru, had embezzled panchayat funds through fraud.
Zubair had previously lodged a complaint regarding this matter at the Punhana BDPO office. A case was registered at Bichhor police station, and Nasru was arrested. Since then, Nasru and his family have harboured a grudge against him.
According to the police, Nasru was granted bail by the Nuh court on September 19. Upon his release, he threatened the complainant and their family.
He also led a procession from the Bada Mod-Jurhera Road to the village, accompanied by 100-120 people, 10-12 cars, and 30-40 motorcycles, while playing loud music.
During the procession, reckless driving obstructed the path of the general public and an atmosphere of fear was created by brandishing illegal weapons. Due to fear, the complainant’s family was unable to step out of their home, they said.
Based on a complaint filed by Zuabir, the police registered an FIR at Bichhor police station against Nasru and over 100 people participating in the procession, including Rashid, Sabir, Ashif, Taufiq, and Jabid, all residents of Naheda village, they added.
“The Nuh Police are taking strict action regarding an incident involving rowdy behaviour, where individuals climbed onto the roofs of vehicles to play DJ music and violated traffic rules. A case has been registered, and the accused will be arrested soon,” said Krishan Kumar, the spokesperson of Nuh police.
