Bhadohi (UP), Sep 24 A 30-year-old man was arrested on Thursday here for allegedly making explicit videos with his wife and circulating child sexual abuse material through fake social media accounts and messaging groups, police said.
Superintendent of Police Abhinav Tyagi said the action followed information shared by Meta with authorities under its coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC),
The SP further said that the accused had also recorded explicit videos with his wife and uploaded them on Facebook, with both earning money through the activity.
A case under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act was registered at the Bhadohi city police station against Sujeet Kumar Maurya on Wednesday, he said.
A joint team of the cyber police station and Bhadohi police station raided the accused’s house and arrested him, Tyagi said.
During the investigation, police found that the accused had allegedly created a fake Facebook account in the name of a woman and used it to connect with hundreds of people in India and abroad for the alleged sale and sharing of child sexual abuse material.
The accused had also allegedly created a messaging group where members engaged in obscene chats, the SP said.
Police recovered several such videos from his mobile phone and found evidence indicating that more than 50 videos had allegedly been shared through the network, Tyagi said.
The accused was produced before a court for further legal proceedings, he said.
