Mainpuri (UP), Sep 22 (PTI) A 54-year-old assistant teacher and former Air Force serviceman was allegedly shot dead on Tuesday by three men while returning home from school in the Elau area here, police said.
Yashpal, posted as an assistant teacher at a primary school in Usmanpur, was returning home on Monday evening when three assailants opened fire on him in Rampur village under the Elau development block. He died in the attack.
Yashpal, a former Air Force serviceman, had been living with a man named Rampal since the death of his wife in 2000.
Rampal has lodged an FIR against his brothers Ram Veer and his nephews Amit and Prashant, alleging that Yashpal was targeted over a land dispute.
According to the complaint, Rampal had a dispute with his brothers over land, and Yashpal was supporting his side in the matter, after which he was allegedly killed.
Police are searching for the accused, sources said.
