New Delhi, Sep 24 Police arrested a man for allegedly firing shots from a country-made pistol during a birthday celebration at his friend’s office in the Rohini area on Thursday. No one was injured in the incident, they said.
Police received a PCR call regarding firing in northwest Delhi’s Sector 3, Rohini, around 7:38 pm. A team reached the spot and apprehended the accused, identified as Karan Bhasin, a resident of Sector 24, Rohini, as he allegedly tried to flee.
During interrogation, Bhasin allegedly disclosed that he had gone to his friend Chirag Dhawan’s office to celebrate his birthday and fired one round from a firearm on the staircase in celebration.
Police said they recovered a .32-bore country-made pistol and three live cartridges from a dustbin on the staircase at Bhasin’s instance, while one fired cartridge was also recovered from the spot.
Police said Bhasin has 13 previous cases against him.
Police said they registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
Further investigation is underway.
