Nanded, Sept 23 A case has been registered against an e-crop survey assistant for allegedly making an incorrect crop survey entry and uploading edited overlay photographs in violation of the prescribed procedure at Somthana village in Nanded district of Maharashtra, officials said on Wednesday.
Under the e-crop survey system, officials physically inspect crops in the fields and upload photographs along with the necessary details on the system.
During an inspection, officials found that photographs had allegedly been uploaded using the “photo-over-photo” (PIP) method instead of taking photographs of the actual crops in the fields.
The inquiry found that the crop survey entry had been made improperly and that there was an alleged attempt to mislead the government through the process, officials added.
Following the district collector’s directions, the Kandhar tehsildar initiated legal action through the village revenue officer, and a case was registered.
Maharashtra has shifted from older manual self-survey methods to the unified central Digital Crop Survey (DCS).
Under the e-crop survey method, data flows directly into the 7/12 extract (land ownership document) and is utilised for processing crop loans, disaster compensation, subsidies, and crop insurance claims.
