Kolkata, Sep 24 West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Neelam Meena on Thursday reviewed preparations for the October 16 bypoll to a Rajya Sabha seat from the state at a meeting with senior election and Assembly officials.
The meeting was attended by the additional CEOs, deputy CEO, principal secretary of the assembly, returning officer, assistant returning officer and other officials concerned, an EC official said.
The officials discussed various aspects of the by-election, including the roles and responsibilities of election officials and arrangements required for smooth and orderly polling.
The by-election was necessitated by the resignation of Trinamool Congress MP Rukmini (Koel) Mallick on July 16.
The last date for filing nominations is October 6, while candidates can withdraw their nominations till October 9.
None of the parties has announced their candidate for the seat yet.
