Kanpur (UP), Sep 26 Union Minister and Apna Dal (S) chief Anupriya Patel on Saturday took a jibe at the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh, saying the two parties appeared to lack coordination despite claiming to be preparing together for the 2027 Assembly elections.
“Dil mile na mile, haath mil rahe hai,” Patel said at a party rally in Ghatampur, referring to the two parties campaigning in each other’s strongholds but not holding joint programmes.
“The lack of coordination is visible,” she said.
Patel claimed that the NDA was a “strong fist of five parties” and asserted that the alliance would return to power in Uttar Pradesh with a record victory in the 2027 elections.
She was addressing a public meeting organised by Apna Dal (S) at Sukhwasi Singh Memorial Janta Mahavidyalaya in Ghatampur. A large crowd attended the meeting despite heavy rain, she said.
Targeting the SP, Patel alleged that it had not done enough for backward classes despite claiming to represent their interests.
She accused the SP and Congress of trying to regain power by creating “confusion and misinformation” among voters.
On OBC reservation in NEET and the caste census, Patel said her party had raised both issues with the Centre and claimed credit for their implementation.
She also criticised the Congress over its recent remarks on the Supreme Court and Election Commission, saying the poll panel should come forward and clarify its position.
Asked about AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s plans to contest the Uttar Pradesh elections and explore alliances, Patel said every political party had its own agenda and Owaisi’s decision was his own.
Patel, who arrived at Kanpur Central railway station in the morning, later travelled to Ghatampur for the programme. Describing Kanpur as her birthplace, she said returning to the city felt like coming back to her family.
Recalling Apna Dal (S)’s political journey, Patel said her father, Sone Lal Patel, founded the party in 1995. She said the party won nine Assembly seats in 2017 and currently has 13 MLAs in Uttar Pradesh.
