Mumbai, Sep 26 The Maharashtra government is planning to give Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, popularly known as Film City, an international identity and a global-standard upgrade as it enters its 50th year, state Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar said on Saturday.
Shelar visited the Goregaon-based Chitranagari on the 49th foundation day of the Maharashtra Film, Theatre and Cultural Development Corporation.
“We intend to give Chitranagari a new global identity. Our government is committed to making this media and entertainment hub more international in its standards and technologically advanced,” Shelar said.
The minister paid floral tributes to Dadasaheb Phalke’s statue and reviewed the future development plans and initiatives proposed for the golden jubilee year.
The formal launch of the golden jubilee year will be held on October 1 at Studio No. 1.
