New Delhi, Sep 25 BJP leaders on Friday paid tributes to party ideologue Deendayal Upadhyay on his birth anniversary recalling his philosophy of Integral Humanism and ‘Antyodaya’, with Home Minister Amit Shah asserting that his ideas will always serve as the guiding light in the direction of service to the nation and public welfare.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Upadhyay’s life stands as an inspiring example of service to the nation, simplicity, probity and steadfast adherence to principles.
Through the concept of ‘Antyodaya’, Upadhyay showed the path to taking development, opportunities and dignity to the person standing at the very last rung of society, while through Integral Humanism, he presented a comprehensive vision for inclusive, balanced and harmonious development, he said.
“Respectful tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya ji, co-founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the ideological guide and source of moral inspiration for the Bharatiya Janata Party, on his birth anniversary,” the defence minister said in a post on X.
“His thoughts, life, and ideals will continue to inspire service to the nation and guide future generations,” Singh said, adding, “On his birth anniversary, let us resolve to further strengthen our commitment to Antyodaya, the national interest, and social service by internalising his thoughts and ideals.”
Home Minister Shah said Upadhyay viewed politics not as a means to attain power but as an instrument for serving the nation and uplifting the most marginalised individuals in society.
Through “rashtra dharma” and “panchjanya”, he gave voice to nationalist thought, while also vociferously raising issues concerning national unity through various movements, Shah said.
“My deepest salutations on the birth anniversary of the revered Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, a great ‘rashtra sevak’ and the proponent of ‘Antyodaya’ and Integral Humanism,” the home minister said in a post on X, adding, “Pandit ji’s ideas will always serve as a guiding light, like the Pole Star, in the direction of service to the nation and public welfare.”
Union minister Nitin Gadkari said the ideas and principles of Upadhyay provided the country with an alternative ideology and played a pivotal role in national reconstruction.
“Driven by the goal of the welfare of the poor, he brought the philosophy of Integral Humanism and the ideology of Antyodaya to fruition. I bow to such a great visionary,” Gadkari added.
Paying tributes to Upadhyay in Jaipur on his birth anniversary, BJP president Nitin Nabin said he presented a vision of development based on Indian thoughts.
“His vision of ‘Antyodaya’ continues to guide the nation towards inclusive development and public welfare even today. His life will always remain a source of inspiration for every karyakarta dedicated to the service of the nation,” he added.
At the BJP headquarters here, party national general secretary (organisation) B L Santosh and other senior leaders paid floral tributes to Upadhyay at his statue, recalling his thoughts and ideals.
“Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay is an ideal and a guiding light for crores of BJP karyakartas. The philosophy of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya propounded by him has given direction to the BJP’s ideology and continues to be a source of inspiration for every party karyakarta and the government even today,” Santhosh said.
The Narendra Modi government has been working for the welfare of the poor, deprived, distressed and exploited for the past 12 years, following Upadhyay’s ideals and his vision of Antyodaya, he added.
