Kochi, Sep 25 The KSEB’s Anti-Power Theft Squad detected electricity irregularities worth Rs 3.14 crore during special-drive inspections in Kochi this month, officials said on Friday.
The inspections were conducted by the Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEB) Anti-Power Theft Squad (APTS), Kollam unit, as part of a special drive ordered by the Chief Vigilance Officer, officials said.
An inspection under the Maradu Electrical Section found that a high-tension consumer with an approved connected load of 50 kW was using an unauthorised additional load of 260 kW.
The consumer was found supplying electricity without permission to 145 shops from the connection without using KSEB meters, officials said.
In another inspection under the Kalamassery Electrical Section, a connection with an approved connected load of 450 kW for industrial use was found operating with an additional load of 850 kW, officials said.
The inspection found that the establishment was illegally supplying electricity to mobile network providers’ towers without KSEB’s permission.
The Chief Vigilance Officer said strict inspections would continue across Keralam.
