Bhopal, Sep 24 Newly-appointed BJP in charge for Madhya Pradesh Biplab Kumar Deb will arrive in the state on September 30 on a two-day visit, party functionaries said on Thursday.
This will be the former Tripura chief minister’s first visit to MP since being appointed as the state’s in charge on Wednesday replacing Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council member Mahendra Singh.
During his visit, Deb, a former BJP general secretary, will meet party leaders in Bhopal to discuss organisational issues, they added.
“His round of meetings will continue on October 1. He will then return to Delhi. The meetings will be introductory in nature since it is his first visit after being appointed to the post. He may also review the state organisation. MP BJP president Hemant Khandelwal has begun preparations for Deb’s visit,” a party leader said.
Urban body and panchayat elections are set to be held in MP in June-July next year, while assembly polls will take place late 2028.
The BJP has ruled Madhya Pradesh since 2003, with the exception of a brief 15-month period between December 2018 and March 2020 when the Congress was in government with Kamal Nath as chief minister.
